Arts District & Little Tokyo

On the eastern edge of Downtown Los Angeles is the uber-trendy Arts District, an artist’s domain since the mid-70s and the most popular spot for millennials to spend their weekends. The creative spirit of this neighborhood remains its biggest draw as boisterous street artists cover the grounds with imaginative, Instagram-worthy murals and graphics. It’s also home to two of the finest micro breweries in downtown and a short jaunt away from Little Tokyo. Home to the largest Japanese-American population in North America, this neighborhood has no shortage of restaurants to choose from, all with their own specialties. The California roll? It was invented by chef Ichiro Mashita right here on First Street under the watchful eye of the Los Angeles City Hall, towering above.
