This quirky corner of Los Angeles has hit its stride with the millennial generation who have become its primary residents and as such have made this part of town the “place to be.” With a strong emphasis small businesses, artisans and craft makers, Silverlake has been typecast as a hipster haven, with draws like its monthly Silverlake Flea—complete with food trucks, vintage clothing and handmade jewelry. We love it for the kitschy (but completely magical) Chandelier Tree and also for it’s growing bar scene. Echo Park has seen a very similar upswing since the revival of the park and lake of the same name, around which the neighborhood is centered. (It’s also just down the hill from Dodgers Stadium.) Finally, there’s Los Feliz. Popular with wealthy celebrities looking to settle just outside the limelight, this hilly, densely green area is an unexpected and completely refreshing break from the rest of the city.
